Spice Garten: Where Tradition Meets Taste
At the heart of Hamburg, far from the Himalayas, three Nepali friends—Daya, Suman, and Miraz, also known as Dhyan Maitreya—came together with one vision: to create food that heals, resonates, and carries the vibrant spirit of their homeland.
Daya, a passionate restaurant entrepreneur, had long dreamed of opening a place where people could gather around authentic flavors. Suman, a gifted photographer and media storyteller, wanted to capture and share the soul of Nepal through images, atmosphere, and design. Miraz, a spiritual healer, believed food could be more than nourishment—it could be a path to inner balance, with every spice and recipe carrying energy to uplift body and soul.
From this shared passion, Spice Garten was born. The restaurant brings together the best of Indian and Himalayan gastronomy, with chefs from Nepal and India carrying decades of experience. Each dish is crafted with carefully chosen spices and traditional methods, from fragrant curries and biryanis to hand-folded momos and soul-warming thukpa.
But Spice Garten is more than a restaurant—it is a sanctuary. Brass plates gleam under soft candlelight, walls come alive with Himalayan art, and evenings resonate with the soothing sounds of mantras or the joy of Bollywood songs. Weekly open-mic sessions invite voices and stories, while celebrations of Nepali festivals like Dashain and Tihar fill the space with color, lights, and togetherness.
Looking ahead, the trio dreams of creating a holistic dining experience: a place where families and friends can enjoy wholesome food in a sacred environment, or even bring the healing flavors of Nepal and India into their own homes through thoughtful delivery services.
Spice Garten is their gift to Hamburg—a living tapestry of heritage, taste, and soul, where every meal tells a story.
